Ledaig 10 Year

Pour yourself a little island weather. Ledaig 10 Year is the peated single malt from Tobermory distillery on the Isle of Mull, and it earns its place on the shelf here in West Seattle because it brings smoke without the heavy medicinal punch of its Islay neighbors. It is brawny but approachable, salty and sweet at once, and a perfect fit for a cabin bar where the rain outside makes a campfire dram feel exactly right.

About the Distillery

Tobermory distillery sits on the Isle of Mull, off Scotland’s west coast, and dates back to 1798. The distillery makes two distinct styles: an unpeated malt under the Tobermory name and a peated malt under the older Ledaig label. Ledaig (pronounced “le-chig”) is the smoky side of the house, drawing on Mull’s coastal character and the distillery’s long island heritage.

Style & Mash Bill

Ledaig 10 is a peated single malt Scotch whisky, made entirely from malted barley. The barley is dried over peat smoke to roughly 35 ppm phenols, giving it real smoke without overwhelming heat. It is aged primarily in ex-bourbon casks, bottled at 46.3% ABV, and is non-chill filtered with natural color, so what reaches your glass is honest and full-textured.

Tasting Notes

The nose opens with sweet peat, malt, and orchard fruit, with a salty coastal lift and a hint of seaweed. The palate carries that smoke alongside honey, sweet pear, lemon, and sea salt, rounding into creamy vanilla and caramel fudge with a touch of black pepper. The finish is medium-long, warm, and gently smoky.

How to Enjoy It at Camp West

We pour Ledaig 10 Year at $25. Neat is the way to meet it first, letting the smoke and coastal sweetness unfold. A single rock or a few drops of water opens the fruit and softens the peat if you like it gentler. It also stands up beautifully in a smoky riff on an Old Fashioned. Ask your bartender and we will steer you right.
