Koloa Coffee Rum is one of our favorite island pours at Camp West in West Seattle. Made by Koloa Rum Company on Kauaʻi, it marries the distillery’s smooth Hawaiian rum with real Kauaʻi coffee, landing somewhere between a sipping rum and a coffee liqueur. It is an easy yes after dinner in our cabin-inspired room, whether you take it neat or let us spin it into something a little more dressed up.
About the Producer
Koloa Rum Company makes all of its rum at its distillery in Kalāheo on the island of Kauaʻi, Hawaii, distilling in single batches in a vintage copper pot still using sugar and water drawn from near Mount Waiʻaleʻale. The coffee expression, officially Kōloa Kauaʻi Coffee Rum, is a collaboration with the Kauaʻi Coffee Company, so the coffee character comes from beans grown on the same island as the rum.
Style & Flavor
This is a coffee-flavored Hawaiian rum built on Koloa’s clean sugarcane spirit. It drinks smoother and less sweet than many coffee liqueurs, letting the roasted-coffee flavor sit alongside the warmth of the rum rather than burying it in sugar.
Tasting Notes
Expect aromas of fresh-roasted coffee and brown sugar. The palate brings smooth coffee, a touch of caramel, and the mellow warmth of the base rum. The finish is clean and gently roasty, with coffee lingering more than sweetness.
How to Enjoy It at Camp West
Our Koloa Coffee Rum pour is $11. It shines neat or over a large cube as a digestif, and it makes a standout Espresso Martini or a grown-up addition to after-dinner coffee. It can also stand in for coffee liqueur in a White Russian for a smoother, less sweet take. Ask your bartender and we will build it your way.
FAQ

Where does the coffee come from? The coffee character comes from a collaboration with the Kauaʻi Coffee Company, using coffee grown on Kauaʻi, the same island where the rum is distilled.
