Crown Royal

Some bottles earn their place through sheer, dependable charm. Crown Royal is the purple-bagged icon of Canadian whisky, smooth and approachable, and we keep it on the shelf at Camp West in West Seattle for exactly that reason. It is the easygoing pour for the guest who wants something mellow and familiar at our cabin-inspired bar in the Junction.

About the Distillery

Crown Royal was introduced in 1939 by Samuel Bronfman of Seagram as a tribute to the royal tour of Canada by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. Today every bottle is produced at the Gimli distillery on the shores of Lake Winnipeg in Manitoba, where water naturally filtered through limestone feeds the whisky-making. It remains one of the best-selling Canadian whiskies in the world.

Style & Mash Bill

Crown Royal Deluxe is a blended Canadian whisky bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV). In the Canadian tradition, each grain, rye, corn, and barley, is distilled separately on tall column stills and aged on its own before the components are blended together. This blending-first approach is what gives Canadian whisky its signature smoothness.

Tasting Notes

The flagship Deluxe blend is light and full-bodied at once, led by gentle fruit, creamy vanilla, and a touch of pleasant oak. The rye in the blend adds a soft baking-spice lift, and the finish is clean, smooth, and easy.

How to Enjoy It at Camp West

At $10 a pour, Crown Royal is endlessly versatile. It is lovely neat or on the rocks for easy sipping, and its smooth profile makes it a favorite in a Crown and ginger or a whisky sour. Tell your bartender how you like it.
