About the Distillery
Glenmorangie distills in the Scottish Highlands and is famous for two things: the tallest stills in Scotland, which give a notably light and refined spirit, and a pioneering devotion to cask finishing. The Quinta Ruban is the port-finished member of that family, named for the Portuguese quintas whose ruby port pipes give it its color and depth.
Region & Style
This is a Highland single malt Scotch, 100% malted barley, bottled at 46% ABV and non-chill filtered for fuller texture. It matures around ten years in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, then spends extra time finishing in ruby port pipes from Portugal, reaching 14 years in total. That extra maturation is where its character comes from.
Tasting Notes
The nose offers dried dark fruit, port sweetness, malt, vanilla, citrus, marzipan, and candied pecans. The palate is rich and layered: dark fruit, leather, port sweetness, molasses cookies, cocoa, and nutty notes with baking spice. The finish is medium to long, with sticky dried fruit, oak, and a cocoa-citrus fade. Think dark chocolate, mint, and orange zest.
How to Enjoy It at Camp West
Quinta Ruban is best neat so the port-cask richness comes through, with a few drops of water if you like to coax out more aroma. It is a fine after-dinner whisky, pairing naturally with chocolate or a cheese course. Our pour is $18.
