Weller C.Y.P.B.

Weller C.Y.P.B. is a bit of a love letter from Buffalo Trace to bourbon drinkers, and we are proud to keep it on the shelf at Camp West in West Seattle. The initials stand for “Craft Your Perfect Bourbon,” a release built around what fans told the distillery they most wanted: a wheated recipe, aged on the highest floors of the rickhouse, and bottled at an approachable strength. The result is a thoughtful, balanced pour that fits right in at our cabin-inspired bar in the Junction, whether you are a Weller devotee or just curious about the range.

About the Distillery

Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky created C.Y.P.B. by surveying bourbon enthusiasts about their ideal whiskey, then making it. It joins the rest of the W.L. Weller family, named for William Larue Weller, the distiller who pioneered using wheat in place of rye. C.Y.P.B. stands apart as the expression literally designed by popular consensus.

Style & Mash Bill

C.Y.P.B. is a wheated straight bourbon bottled at 95 proof (47.5% ABV). It uses Buffalo Trace’s undisclosed wheated mash bill, the same recipe behind the rest of the Weller and Van Winkle lineup, and is aged around eight years on the upper floors of the warehouse where the temperature swings are greatest. That placement helps drive deeper oak and fruit character.

Tasting Notes

The nose is fruit-forward, with red and orchard fruit alongside vanilla, honey and toasted oak. The palate is well rounded and balanced, leaning into creamy caramel, baking spice, orchard fruit and rich oak with a medium body. The finish is medium to long, with lingering vanilla and cinnamon. It is an easy bourbon to keep coming back to.

How to Enjoy It at Camp West

At 95 proof, C.Y.P.B. is comfortable neat and shows off its balance beautifully that way. A single large cube softens it nicely if you prefer. It is approachable enough to enjoy in a well-made Old Fashioned, and our bartenders are glad to oblige. The pour is $19.
