G4 Reposado is one of the quiet stars of the agave list at Camp West, our 21-and-over cabin-inspired cocktail bar and restaurant in the West Seattle Junction. Made by fourth-generation distiller Felipe Camarena at the El Pandillo distillery in the highlands of Jalisco, it is a 100% Blue Weber agave reposado that earned its place on our shelf the honest way: it tastes like the agave it came from. If you have wandered into Camp West looking for a sipping tequila that rewards a little patience, this is the bottle we keep reaching for.
About the Producer
G4 is the work of Felipe Camarena, a distiller with deep roots in Jalisco tequila-making, who built the El Pandillo distillery to do things his own way. The name G4 nods to four generations of family craft. Camarena is known among agave fans for an obsessive, hands-on approach, including a famous homemade mechanical tahona used to crush the cooked agave. G4 is additive-free, made simply from agave, water, and yeast, which is exactly the kind of straightforward, no-shortcuts spirit we like to pour.
Agave & Region
The agave is estate-grown Blue Weber from the Jalisco Highlands, a region prized for producing sweeter, more aromatic tequilas thanks to its high elevation and red clay soils. At El Pandillo the agave is slow-roasted, crushed, fermented, and twice-distilled in copper pot stills. A blend of spring water and collected rainwater goes into the process, a detail that reflects the distillery’s resourceful, sustainability-minded character.
Tasting Notes
Resting in oak gives G4 Reposado a gentle golden tone and a rounder profile than a blanco. Expect cooked agave up front, with vanilla, light oak, and a touch of citrus zest on the nose. The palate is creamy and warm: honey, soft caramel, black pepper, and dried herbs, finishing clean and agave-forward rather than heavy with wood. It is balanced and easygoing, the kind of pour that converts people who think they do not like tequila.
How to Enjoy It at Camp West
We recommend G4 Reposado neat or over a single large cube, in a tasting glass so the aromas open up. It is also excellent as the backbone of an elevated margarita or an Old Fashioned-style agave cocktail if you would rather sip something built. A pour is $14. Tell your server you are exploring the reposados and we will happily talk you through it.
FAQ
Is G4 Reposado additive-free? Yes. G4 is made with just agave, water, and yeast, with no additives, which is part of why it tastes so clean and agave-driven.
How is a reposado different from a blanco? Reposado means “rested.” It spends time aging in oak barrels, which mellows the spirit and adds notes of vanilla, caramel, and spice while keeping the agave character.
