Tenet The Pundit Syrah is one of the most rewarding pours on our wine list here in West Seattle — a Rhone-inspired Washington red made by Tenet Wines, a project born from the collaboration between Chateau Ste. Michelle and acclaimed French winemaking talent. Rich, balanced, and built around Columbia Valley Syrah, The Pundit gives Camp West guests a taste of the Pacific Northwest filtered through a distinctly French sensibility, and it has become a quiet favorite for anyone who loves a savory, food-friendly red.
About the Winery
Tenet Wines is a Washington State venture that brings together Chateau Ste. Michelle with the French winemaking influence of Michel Gassier and renowned consultant Philippe Cambie. The aim was straightforward and ambitious: take the warm, sun-drenched fruit of the Columbia Valley and shape it with the restraint and structure of the southern Rhone. The result is a line of wines that feel both unmistakably Washington and thoughtfully European.
Region & Grape
The Pundit is sourced from the Columbia Valley, the broad and varied growing region that anchors much of Washington’s finest red wine production. It is built around Syrah, the great grape of the northern Rhone, typically rounded out with small amounts of Grenache and Mourvedre in a classic Rhone-style approach. The wine is aged largely in neutral French oak, which keeps the focus on fruit and place rather than heavy toast.
Tasting Notes
Expect expressive aromatics of huckleberry and dark berry alongside floral and earthy notes. On the palate it shows depth and richness without weight, with a smooth texture and the kind of balance that makes a glass disappear quickly. There is a savory, slightly peppery edge that keeps it interesting from first sip to last.
What to Pair It With
Syrah loves bold, savory plates, and our kitchen has plenty. Try it with our NY Strip Steak, the Delmonico Steak Bites, or the Steak Tip Fettuccine — the wine’s pepper and dark fruit play beautifully against char and rich pasta. See the full dine-in menu for more pairing ideas.
