Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon is the splurge bottle on the Camp West wine list here in West Seattle — and for good reason. This 2020 Columbia Valley Cabernet is rich and polished yet impeccably structured, with expressive blackberry, espresso, and clove flavors building toward refined tannins. Quilceda Creek is one of Washington’s most legendary Cabernet houses, the first winery outside California to earn a perfect 100-point score from a major critic. When you want the very best Washington has to offer, this is the pour.
About the Winery
Quilceda Creek was founded in 1978 by Alex and Jeanette Golitzin, with their first Cabernet vintage in 1979. The Golitzin family’s winemaking heritage runs remarkably deep — Alex was the nephew of the legendary California winemaker Andre Tchelistcheff, who encouraged his early efforts. Since 1993, Alex’s son Paul has led winemaking, and the estate has built a reputation as one of the finest Cabernet producers in the United States.
Region & Grape
This is a Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from the 2020 vintage. Although the winery itself sits west of the Cascades, it sources all of its fruit from estate vineyards in the acclaimed Horse Heaven Hills and Red Mountain AVAs — two of Washington’s premier sites for powerful, structured Cabernet. The result is a wine of remarkable concentration and precision.
Tasting Notes
Rich and polished yet impeccably structured, the 2020 shows expressive blackberry alongside espresso and clove, with everything building toward refined, finely woven tannins. It is a wine of both power and grace — the kind that reveals more with every swirl.
What to Pair It With
A Cabernet of this stature deserves the kitchen’s best. Pair it with our NY Strip Steak, the Delmonico Steak Bites, or the Steak Tip Fettuccine — the wine’s dark fruit and firm tannins are a classic match for a great cut of beef. Browse the full dine-in menu for more.
